Bridge Maintenance Program


This program performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on bridges throughout the City, including cleaning and sealing expansion joints, mowing and herbicide application around guardrails, guardrail repairs, graffiti removal, sidewalk maintenance, railing hardware replacement, debris and vegetation removal, and select structural repairs.

Bridges located within the County right-of-way are maintained by the Lee County Department of Transportation. Bridges with spans greater than 20 feet are inspected biennially by the Florida Department of Transportation, with inspection reports and repair recommendations provided to the City. Bridges with spans less than 20 feet are inspected by the City.

There are 161 bridges within the City of Cape Coral, of which 142 are the City’s responsibility to maintain.
