Vacancies
Vacancies occur on boards and committees on a regular basis due to term limits, resignations, or other circumstances. Current vacancies and timelines/requirements for submitting applications are listed below.
NOTE: All applicants for any City Board, Commission, or Committee must be a Citizen of the United States and a resident of the City of Cape Coral (unless otherwise noted below.)

Lee County Metropolitan Planning Commission, Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) – 1 Vacancy
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Citizen of the United States
- Year-Round Resident of Cape Coral
Two-step approval process, first by City Council and then, second by the Lee County MPO. Deadline to receive applications is no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2026. Note: Interested applicants complete two applications:

Planning and Zoning Commission – 3 Members and 2 Alternates Member Vacancies
Member Eligibility: Applicant must meet each of the following requirements:
- Citizen of the United States
- Full-time resident of Cape Coral, Florida

Affordable Housing Advisory Committee – Vacancies: (3) Regular Members
Member Eligibility: Applicant must meet each of the following requirements: Citizen of the United States, Full-time resident of Cape Coral, Florida
Committee shall include one representative from at least six of the categories below. Please indicate on the application for which Category you qualify:
- Residential home building industry
- Banking or Mortgage Banking industry
- Areas of labor activity engaged in home building
- Advocate for low-income persons
- For-profit provider of affordable housing
- Not-for-profit provider of affordable housing
- Real estate professional in connection with affordable housing
- Member of local planning and zoning commission
- Resident (citizen at large)
- Citizen who represents employers within City of Cape Coral
- Citizen who represents essential services personnel

Audit Committee – Vacancies: (1) Regular Member
Citizen of the United States resident of Cape Coral (who does not have any direct financial or business interests involving the City) and through education and experience shall possess a basic understanding of governmental financial reporting and auditing. Council may waive the residency requirement by majority vote if there is an insufficient number of applicants who reside in the City.

Citizens Advisory Board/Community Development Block Grant – Vacancies: (2) Regular Members
Member Eligibility: Applicant must meet each of the following requirements: Citizen of the United States, Full-time resident of Cape Coral, Florida
Whenever possible, at least one member of the Board shall be selected from the following community segments:
- Elderly (over 65 years of age)
- Handicapped
- Clergy
- Low- or Moderate-income families; and/or
- Minority families
