City Attorney

Aleksandr Boksner was appointed as the City Attorney for the City of Cape Coral, Florida in 2023 by the City of Cape Coral City Council.  As City Attorney, Mr. Boksner serves as the legal advisor to the Mayor and City Council, all boards and commissions, and City staff on legal matters affecting the City of Cape Coral.  Mr. Boksner provides legal counsel at City Council meetings, and meetings of the City’s various boards and commissions; prepares, negotiates and/or reviews all legal documents involving the City; prepares and/or reviews ordinances, resolutions, and amendments to the City Code and Charter; and represents the City’s interests in legal proceedings before federal and state courts and administrative agencies.

Background and Experience:

Prior to Mr. Boksner’s appointment as the City Attorney, he served as the Deputy County Attorney for Sarasota County, Florida.  Mr. Boksner provided legal counsel to the Sarasota County Commissioners, Sarasota County Sheriff, Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller, the County Administration, and the various County Departments on legal matters or issues pertaining to Federal and state litigation, labor and employment or other legal matters that impacted the governmental functions of Sarasota County.

Before serving as the Deputy County Attorney for Sarasota County, Mr. Boksner served as the Chief Deputy City Attorney with the City of Miami Beach for 13 years.  Mr. Boksner provided legal counsel to the Mayor and City Commissioners, City Manager, and Department Directors pertaining to its governmental business practices, liability, and sovereign immunity.

Mr. Boksner's professional experience further consists of serving in significant legal positions at other governmental agencies which includes the Office of the County Attorney, Marion County, Florida; Office of the County Attorney, Charlotte County, Florida; and Office of the State Attorney, Miami, Florida.
