Jaycee Park
One of Cape Coral's few public waterfront parks are undergoing a significant transformation aimed at enhancing both its functionality and visual appeal to better serve the community and its visitors. Jaycee Park, located off Beach Parkway, is receiving major upgrades designed to celebrate the park’s waterfront view while also improving accessibility and creating versatile space for visitors of all ages. The planned renovations include:
- Waterfront Enhancements: Located along the picturesque Caloosahatchee River, Jaycee Park will see major upgrades to its waterfront area. These improvements include the removal of exotic invasive trees and construction of a boardwalk overlook, which is accessible for all to enjoy the water and scenic views.
- Playground Revitalization: The two playgrounds will be fully upgraded with modern, safe equipment. The main playground will feature 5,000 square feet of interactive play areas, with 40 inclusive elements for accessibility. As part of PlayCore’s National Demonstration Site Program, the playground will become just the fourth in the state of Florida with dual designations for inclusivity and accessibility. Shade sails will provide full coverage, ensuring a safe, comfortable environment for all children.
- New Picnic and Gathering Areas: Plans include expansion of covered picnic areas to better accommodate larger groups and community events. These new spaces will offer plenty of room for outdoor meals, family gatherings, and social activities, all with beautiful scenic views. A new bandshell will also provide a dedicated space for local artists and school performances, enhancing the park's role as a community hub.
- More Family-friendly Amenities: In addition to the new playgrounds, the park will feature a 5,000 square foot splash pad, beach volleyball courts, cornhole lanes and ping pong tables. A new food truck court will offer food and beverages for visitors.
- Pathway Improvements: The renovation will include a pathway system throughout the park, which will enhance the park’s pedestrian accessibility. These changes will make it easier for visitors of all mobility levels to explore and enjoy the park and its surroundings.
- Landscaping and Green Space: Significant efforts have been made to elevate the park’s landscaping. Lush greenery, native trees, and vibrant flowering plants will enhance the park’s overall aesthetic, while open grassy areas provide inviting spaces for relaxation, recreation and community events.
- Parking and Accessibility Upgrades: The parking area has been redesigned to improve traffic flow, safety and convenience for visitors. ADA-compliant features have been incorporated to ensure greater accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
These renovations will transform Jaycee Park into a more modern, functional, and enjoyable destination, offering improved spaces for recreation, relaxation, and community gatherings. The park’s updated amenities will make it an even more attractive spot for both locals and visitors alike. Learn more at the Jaycee Park project page
