City Receives DOGE report: "Relative to its population, Cape Coral's overall level of municipal staffing is lean."

October 22, 2026

The City of Cape Coral has received the Florida Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) report, which recognizes the City's lean municipal staffing relative to its population and identifies opportunities for further review of personnel structure, shared services, and purchasing practices.

"Relative to its population, Cape Coral's overall level of municipal staffing is lean - below the median of our dataset in FTEs per 1,000 residents across many functions," the report states.

“The City of Cape Coral has received what I believe, and others in the industry believe, is one of the most favorable DOGE reviews issued to date in the state of Florida," said City Manager Michael Ilczyszyn.
