Cape Coral Begins Changing Speed Limit Signs on Residential Roads

The City of Cape Coral will begin changing speed limit signs on local residential roads as part of the implementation of the City's Areawide Neighborhood Speed Limit Study.

Speed Limit Change
City crews will replace current 30 miles per hour speed limit signs with 25 miles per hour signs on applicable residential roadways in Cape Coral. Motorists are encouraged to remain attentive to changes in speed limit signage.

Safety Improvements
The sign changes implement the recommendations of the City's speed limit study, which evaluated speeds on residential streets. The goal is to improve roadway safety and support a safer environment for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

Enforcement
During the installation process, Cape Coral Police officers will issue warnings to drivers who exceed the new 25 miles per hour speed limit. The City will issue an additional public notice when the warning period ends, and the 25 miles per hour speed limit will become enforceable through citations.

Signage And Notifications
Residents may notice City crews working along roadways during the implementation period. Drivers are asked to use caution when approaching work areas.
