Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency Celebrates Florida Redevelopment Week

The Cape Coral Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) is proud to join communities across Florida in celebrating Florida Redevelopment Week, September 14–18, 2026. The week recognizes the transformative impact of community redevelopment on neighborhoods, downtowns, commercial corridors, and local economies.
Florida Redevelopment Week is a statewide initiative led by the Florida Redevelopment Association. The initiative highlights how CRAs and redevelopment programs strengthen communities through strategic public investment, economic development, infrastructure improvements, neighborhood revitalizations, and partnerships with local businesses and residents.
"Redevelopment Week is an opportunity to recognize the vision, partnerships, and purposeful investments that continue to move Cape Coral's redevelopment area forward," said Michael Ilczyszyn, CRA Executive Director and City Manager.
"We are especially excited about several projects under consideration, including Bimini East, that can further address the slum and blight that once burdened the Bimini Basin area. Together with Madison Square, Bimini Square, The Cove on 47th, and the former golf course property, these redevelopment projects will strengthen our local economy and help anchor the CRA's life, work, and play vision for generations to come. This is a pivotal moment for downtown, and we are committed to building a vibrant, connected destination that residents, businesses, and visitors can be proud of," Ilczyszyn said.
Community redevelopment efforts help attract private investment, support local businesses, improve public spaces, expand housing opportunities, and create vibrant places where residents and visitors can live, work, and thrive.
