Cape Coral Receives Prestigious Budget Award

Cover of 2025 Adopted BudgetThe City of Cape Coral’s Financial Services Department earned a prestigious award and special recognition from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for excellence in budgeting. These achievements underscore the City’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and high standards in financial management.

Financial Services earned the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 27th time for its Fiscal Year 2025 Adopted Budget, the highest honor in governmental budgeting.

The budget also received special recognition for the highest possible score in the following categories:

  • Long-range operating financial plans
  • Strategic goals and strategies

This award reflects the dedication of the City Council, City Manager, and budget staff to produce a budget that serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool.
