The City of Cape Coral contracts solid waste services to keep streets clean and safe. Each residence is provided a tan bin for household waste and a green bin for recyclables; both bins remain City property and must stay with the home. Residents should follow collection guidelines to ensure proper service. For more information, visit CapeCoral.gov

Trash Collection:

  • Collection runs Monday through Friday. Residents can view their collection day online.
  • Garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk waste are collected on the same day.
  • Place bins at the edge of the road with wheels and handles facing the house.
  • No collection on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day.
  • When a holiday falls on a weekday, service is delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Yard Waste:

The City collects residential yard waste, including branches, limbs, grass clippings, leaves, weeds, fallen fruit, and palm fronds.

Extra garbage and recycling:

  • Place additional bagged garbage next to the cart when the bin is full.
  • Set out extra recycling in a clearly labeled cardboard box.

Residential Bulk Waste Collection:

  • Place items within three feet of the road.
  • Do not stack bulk items.
  • Break down cardboard and place it in the recycling bin.
  • Place items that fit inside a trash bin in the bin.
  • “Move-out” materials require a separate scheduled pickup; fees may apply.

Bulk Waste Drop-Off:

Residents may drop off bulk waste at the North Cape Government Complex, 1200 Kismet Parkway, Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with access via NW 14th Avenue.

Household Chemical Waste:

The City holds quarterly drop-off events to collect bulk items and household chemical waste at City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard. The next drop-off event will be held May 2, 2026, from 7-11 a.m.
