City announces new partnership with Lee BIA through Building Industry Committee: First meeting set for May 20

The City of Cape Coral is proud to announce a new partnership with the Lee Building Industry Association (Lee BIA) through the formation of a new Building Industry Committee, with its first meeting scheduled for May 20, 2026. This new committee reflects the City’s continued commitment to strengthening communication and collaboration with the development community and supporting one of the largest industries in Cape Coral.
Created as part of the City’s collaborative relationship with Lee BIA, the committee will help foster productive dialogue, share industry perspectives, and support ongoing coordination related to permitting, inspections, and development services. City leaders have said the partnership is intended to build a more formal and supportive working relationship for the betterment of both the City and the association.
“This partnership is a meaningful step in building strong relationships with the development community and demonstrates the City’s commitment to working alongside the building industry to create strong, positive relationships that support sound, responsible growth and improved service for our community,” said City Manager, Michael Ilczyszyn.
“In the lead up to the committee’s first meeting, Lee BIA will be hosting a series of listening sessions to gather feedback from the construction industry and help shape the committee’s goals and objectives,” said Phillip Ford, Executive Vice President of the Lee Building Industry Association. “We are excited to represent the construction industry in partnership with the City of Cape Coral. It is imperative that we work together to address the needs of both our industry and the City to ensure continued growth and success. The committee will begin meeting in May and will include representatives connected to the building industry within Cape Coral. Under the Memorandum of Understanding, Lee BIA is establishing the Cape Coral Building Industry Committee within its organization.
