The City of Cape Coral’s Development Services Division reports that in 2025, 99.99 percent (22,634 of 22,645) of all building permit submissions were issued within 30 days, meeting the State of Florida’s statutory timelines. This performance reflects the Division’s continued focus on timely, predictable service for builders, residents, and businesses.

Key 2025 permitting achievements include:

  1. 73,401 building permit reviews completed, demonstrating strong capacity to support growth and development.
  2. Nearly 68 percent of permits were approved on the first review (excluding push-button permits), highlighting efficient, high-quality plan review.
  3. Internal calendar-day deadlines met on more than 94 percent of individual reviews, exceeding the statutory standards the City is required to follow.

This exceptionally high level of attainment underscores the effectiveness of recent investments in process improvements, staffing alignment, and customer-facing technology.

The Development Services Division continues to refine permitting workflows, expand use of online services, and collaborate with industry partners to maintain strong performance in 2026 and beyond. These efforts help ensure that Cape Coral remains a responsive, development-ready community while upholding safety, zoning, and building standards.
