City Reduces Speed Limit on Old Burnt Store Road

The City of Cape Coral has reduced the posted speed limit on a segment of Old Burnt Store Road from 45 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour, effective immediately. This change applies to the corridor between Kismet Parkway West and Caloosa Parkway and is intended to enhance safety for all road users.

The posted speed limit along Old Burnt Store Road between Kismet Parkway West and Caloosa Parkway has been officially lowered from 45 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour. This adjustment follows traffic field investigations and traffic studies conducted along the corridor in April 2025, which evaluated operational and safety conditions for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

This speed limit reduction is expected to improve the safety and comfort of motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians traveling along Old Burnt Store Road. The corridor functions as an important north–south route in northwest Cape Coral, where traffic volumes and multimodal activity have increased in recent years.

All speed limit signage within the affected segment has been updated to reflect the new 40 mile per hour posted speed. In addition, advisory flags will be installed on the new speed limit signs for 30 days to draw attention to the change and remind drivers to slow down.
