Online Application for Owner-Builder Permits Available

In an ongoing effort to improve our customers’ experience, the City of Cape Coral is now offering more ways for owner-builders to submit their permit applications. As of Monday, August 21, the City will begin accepting online owner-builder permit applications for two types of permits: residential A/C changeout permits and new single-family residence permits, with a goal of making more permit types available online in the future.

Permit applicants applying under the State owner-builder exemption can apply for these two permits through the City’s online Citizen Self-Service platform at www.capecoral.gov/energov. Upon submitting a permit application, owner-builder applicants must schedule their State-required verification check at City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd., at www.capecoral.gov/qless.

As a part of this new functionality, the City is implementing an expanded system of email notifications for all permit applicants. Owner-builders and contractors will notice additional email notifications to keep them better informed throughout the permitting process. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the contents of these new notification emails to expedite the processing of their permit applications.
