Permitting Counter Hours of Operation (By Appointment ONLY) 

Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., and is closed to the public on Fridays.
*The last sign-in for the day is at 3:30 p.m.

Appointments are scheduled in 30-minute time slots and can be made through the Q-less virtual line system. No walk-ins will be accepted.

All contractors must apply for permits through the City's Self-Service portal at  www.CapeCoral.gov/energov. Permits applied for in-person (owner-builder permits only) and online will be processed in the order they were received. Permits will not be immediately issued at the Permitting Counter.

The City of Cape Coral requires permits and inspections to ensure safe building, effective land use, quality site planning, and coordinated development. The Permitting Services Division is vital to the Development Services Department, providing all building permits for property development within the City of Cape Coral.  According to Florida Building Codes and Standards currently, in force, a properly obtained building permit grants legal permission to construct or alter a structure or install or replace electrical, gas, mechanical, or plumbing systems.

How to Apply for Permits:
1.  Review the Types of Permits in the Permit Document Center to learn what you need. 
2.  Building Permits must be submitted through the EnerGov Customer Self-Service (CSS) Portal.

ATTENTION OWNER-BUILDERS:

  • You must come in person to City Hall to apply for your permit as an owner-builder.
