Free Food, Fun for Children over Summer Break

June 12, 2023

This summer, the City of Cape Coral’s Parks & Recreation Department is teaming up with the School District of Lee County and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to host Summer BreakSpot at Paul Sanborn Park (2310 SE 3rd St.).

The School District of Lee County will be providing free lunches to children and youth aged 18 and under at Paul Sanborn Park from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. every weekday, June 12 through July 29 (excluding the July 4th holiday). The Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Fun-Mobile will offer free games and activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The BreakSpot program is federally funded by the USDA and administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Participating sites provide nutritionally balanced meals to children and youth during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are unavailable. Meals are offered at no cost, and there are no income or registration requirements.
