Cape Coral Youth Council Wins Community Service Contest

July 1, 2022

The Cape Coral Youth Council was selected as a winner of the 2022 Municipal Youth Council Community Service Contest by the Florida League of Cities (FLC). Cape Coral's Youth Council is one of three recognized for a community service project that successfully addressed specific needs in their communities.

The Cape Coral Youth Council launched the "Community Service Challenge" with the goal of engaging as many residents as possible in acts of service that better our City. This included a beach clean-up, working with members of our community with special needs, and advocating for the youth in our city by holding a special joint council meeting.

Their efforts not only shed light on community service and the many benefits to participants and the City, it encouraged fellow residents to serve alongside them. The Youth Council also engaged and educated their peers on what is being done in the City to remain sustainable and litter-free for future generations.

The Youth Council will receive a trophy, be featured in FLC's award-winning magazine, and have their projects featured on FLC's website and social media accounts.

The Cape Coral Youth Council is comprised of 14 students who live in the City of Cape Coral. The Council meets the second and fourth Friday of each month to discuss topics important to our youth and make recommendations to City Council.
