Cape Coral Youth Council Wins Video Competition

March 6, 2024

The Florida League of Cities (FLC) selected the Cape Coral Youth Council as a winner of the 2023 Municipal Youth Council Video Competition.

Cape Coral's Youth Council is one of three councils recognized for creating a video that showcases three main points:

  • What makes Cape Coral great
  • What Cape Coral offers its residents and visitors
  • How the Youth Council helps make the Cape Coral community better

The Cape Coral Youth Council video highlighted Cape Coral's scenic locations, wildlife, population growth, and community events. The video shows the Youth Council's passion for service through their monthly volunteering opportunities, which help keep Cape Coral looking clean and inviting.

FLC stated that this Youth Council goes above and beyond, and that they are one of the first youth councils in the state to adopt a strategic plan and lay out goals to develop the council. The award-winning video can be watched here.

The Cape Coral Youth Council is comprised of 14 students who live in the City of Cape Coral. The Council meets the second and fourth Friday of each month to discuss topics important to our youth and make recommendations to City Council.
