Barricaded Subject with Weapon Obtained and Arrested

(November 20, 2023)--On Sunday, November 19, 2023, at approximately 7:09 a.m., officers from the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a disturbance at 2216 NW 25th Street, located in Cape Coral, Lee County, Florida. 

Police received a 9-1-1 call from a man stating that his son, Eliezer Alicea (W/M 08/23/1991), had a hammer in his hand and was causing a disturbance outside their residence. The father stated that Alicea had already damaged a window to his neighbor's vehicle with the hammer and was continuing to act in an aggressive and unpredictable manner.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the father, who had attempted to de-escalate the situation by having the neighbor step back inside his residence. At this time, Alicea also went back to his residence and closed the door.

Officers made contact with the neighbor and learned that his vehicle sustained damage caused by Alicea hitting the glass windshield with a hammer. The neighbor stated that he heard Alicea screaming in his front yard. When he went outside to investigate the noise, Alicea was holding a hammer and yelling at him. The neighbor stated that observing Alicea holding a hammer while yelling at him in a threatening manner placed him in fear for his life. 

Officers knocked on Alicea's front door and attempted to speak with him, however he refused to exit his residence. Officers also reported that Alicea appeared to be hitting the walls of his home with the hammer during this time.

The Cape Coral Police Department's Special Response Group was activated and arrived on scene shortly thereafter. On scene, numerous commands were announced over the loudspeaker in an effort to get Alicea to peacefully and safely exit his residence. Eventually, Alicea exited his residence and was taken into custody without further incident. 

Eliezer Alicea was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail.
