(November 13, 2023)--On November 12, 2023 at approximately 2:19 p.m., Officers from the Cape Coral Police Department responded to 4323 Kismet Parkway West for a car that crashed into the canal. The synopsis of the crash from the Major Crash Investigator is as follows:

DRIVER 1: Howard Walter Cooper, DOB 10/08/1929 of Cape Coral
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: Howard Cooper suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
PASSENGER 1: Marilyn Palmer Cooper, DOB 05/14/1935, of Cape Coral
PASSENGER 1 INJURIES: Marilyn Cooper suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Synopsis:
V1 was westbound on Kismet Parkway West, approaching a cul-de-sac, which forces travelers to complete a U-Turn at the end of the roadway which ends at a canal.
At the end of Kismet Parkway are three separate left arrow signs posted to warn motorists of the end of the roadway.
V1 failed to stop or turn along with the cul-de-sac and continued straight, westbound off the roadway into the grass yard at 4323 Kismet Parkway West.
V1 traveled west across the grass, striking a palm tree with the front left of V1, then continued off the seawall into the canal.
V1 submerged into the water where no one is observed exiting the vehicle.
Alcohol/drugs ARE NOT a factor in this traffic crash. Speed IS NOT a factor in this crash. Next-of-kin HAS BEEN notified.
