Drunk Man Arrested for Occupied Burglary

(October 26, 2023)--On October 24, 2023 at approximately 1840 hours, Cape Coral police officers were flagged down near the 3000 block of Santa Barbara Blvd S, Cape Coral, Lee County, Florida in reference to a burglary in progress.

A resident advised that another household resident caught someone trying to break into their car that was parked in an open garage. 

Officers ran to the house and found the suspect detained. A resident stated he was in the kitchen and heard someone talking in the garage. The resident opened the door from the house into the garage and saw a Hispanic male that he had never seen before. The resident stated he saw the Hispanic male trying to pull open the car door handle on the driver’s side window. When the resident realized that the unknown male, later identified as Aroldo Arael Sanchez Morales (W/M DOB 06/02/1998), was attempting to get into the car, the son started screaming, “Get out!” repeatedly. 

Another resident in the house heard screaming and went out the garage. The resident then punched Sanchez Morales in the face, knocking him to the ground. They detained Sanchez Morales and immediately found nearby police officers. 

The investigation revealed that Sanchez Morales allegedly entered the garage without permission and attempted to open the car door to make entry. Sanchez Morales showed signs of heavy intoxication. Sanchez Morlaes arrived at the location in his own car, which he had left with the running with the door open in the driveway. It was also discovered that Sanchez Morales did not have a valid driver’s license. His car was towed.

Sanchez Morales was placed under arrest. He received medical treatment for his facial injury due to the punch and was subsequently transported to the Lee County Jail.
