Traffic Stop Leads to Cocaine Trafficking Arrest

(July 3, 2023)- On July 1, 2023, an officer from the Cape Coral Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for several traffic infractions at 700-Block of Burnt Store Road North.

Contact was made with Kirenia Palacios Torres (W/F 2-29-1980, 3605 Tropicana Parkway West), who was the driver and sole occupant of this vehicle.

The investigation revealed that a backpack was located directly behind the driver's seat because Ms. Palacios Torres's vehicle was being towed due to her having a suspended license. Inside the backpack, officers found a large amount of a white powdery substance, which field tested positive as suspect cocaine.  

Ms. Palacios Torres was subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.

Ms. Palacios Torres was charged with the following:

* Trafficking Cocaine F.S.S. 893.135 (1)(b)(1), [Amount: 117.6 Grams].

*Driving While License Suspended with Knowledge F.S.S. 322.03(1).
