Man Arrested After Stabbing Incident

(April 24, 2023)- On April 23, 2023, at approximately 12:53 a.m., officers from the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a call for service 3000-Block of SW 2nd Court in reference to a stabbing. 

The call notes stated that a male, later identified as Taj Rene Aronson (W/M 2-5-1980, 9480 Colony Drive North Fort Myers, FL), stabbed a victim inside of the residence and then fled on foot.

Officers arrived at the scene and quickly established a perimeter in search of Mr. Aronson.

Officers located a victim inside a bedroom with significant injuries consistent with being stabbed. The witness on scene stated they woke up to Mr. Aronson, the witness's former partner, standing bedside over the witness's new partner (victim). Mr. Aronson stabbed the victim with a knife after breaking into the home.

Mr. Aronson was located near the crime scene with the assistance of our K9 Unit and the Lee County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit. A 4–5-inch black folding knife covered in blood was close to Mr. Aronson.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Mr. Aronson was subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.

Mr. Aronson was charged with the following:

*Aggravated Battery, F.S.S. 784.045(1)(a)(2).

*Occupied Burglary with Battery, F.S.S. 810.02(2)(a).
