Results of Distracted Driving Enforcement

(April 24, 2023)- The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a raffic saturation on April 23, 2023, specifically targeting distracted driving. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in seventeen citations.

The operation was paid for with FDOT sub-grant funding. Cape Coral currently ranks 5th out of 37 agencies in Distracted Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the City, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols.
