Results of Aggressive Driving Enforcement (Operation Be Alert! Crashes Hurt)

(April 19, 2023) The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic saturation (Operation Be Alert! Crashes Hurt) on April 17, 2023, specifically targeting aggressive driving/ speed. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in twenty-five citations (thirteen of those for violating a traffic control or signal device).  One driver was cited for a seatbelt violation.

Cape Coral currently ranks 11th out of 37 agencies in Speeding or Aggressive Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the City, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols.
