Diplomat Middle School Teacher Arrested for Additional Charges
(April 13, 2023) On Friday, April 7, 2023, Joseph Michael Reynolds (W/M 3-5-1993, 811 SW 11th Court) was arrested for Transmission of Material Harmful to a Minor. On April 12, 2023, Mr. Reynolds was arrested at his home located at 811 SW 11th Ct, Cape Coral, Lee County, FL, as a result of a forensic download of his cell phone, regarding that investigation as new information was developed.
In an in-depth review of the cell phone conversations between Mr. Reynolds and the victim, additional evidence was discovered to arrest Mr. Reynolds for the following charges:
*Penalties Relating to Reporting of Child Abuse, Abandonment, or Neglect F.S.S. 39.205.
*Lewd or Lascivious Battery (Victim 12-16 years old) F.S.S. 800.04(4)(a)(1).
*Obscene Communication, Use Computer to Seduce, Solicit, Lure Child F.S.S. 847.0315(3)(a).
*Obscenity, Prohibition of Certain Acts in Connection with Obscene, Lewd, etc., Materials, F.S.S. 847.011(1)(c).
*Possess, Control, View Child Pornography F.S.S. 827.071(5)(a).
An enhancement of these statutes under F.S.S. 775.0862, Sexual Offenses Against Students by Authority Figures, as Mr. Reynolds was working in the capacity of a schoolteacher.
Mr. Reynolds was subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.

(April 10, 2023)- On April 7, 2023, officers from the Cape Coral Police Department made contact with a male identified as Joseph Michael Reynolds (W/M 3-5-1993, 811 SW 11th Court) after they gained information that Mr. Reynolds, who is a middle school teacher at Diplomat Middle School, sent pictures of his genitalia to a student.
The Cape Coral Police Department’s Special Victim’s Unit was informed by a School Resource Officer of the possible inappropriate relationship between Mr. Reynolds and one of his students. This investigation revealed that Mr. Reynolds provided the student with his phone number to correspond through text, eventually leading to him sending the photo.
Mr. Reynolds was subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.
Mr. Reynolds was charged with the following:
*Transmission of Material Harmful to a Minor F.S.S. 847.0138(2).
