Two Men Arrested for Weapons and Narcotics

(April 6, 2023)- On April 6, 2023, at approximately 12:05 a.m., officers from the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a call for service at the intersection of Wilmington Parkway/ Chiquita Boulevard North in reference to an unknown problem call.

The call notes stated a person was slumped over the wheel of a running vehicle.

Officers arrived at the scene and located two males, later identified as Mark Anthony Taylor (B/M 6-6-1996, 1469 Deborah Drive, Spring Hill, FL) and Natyri Jamarris Pitts (B/M 9-30-1996, 2646 Lime Street, Fort Myers, FL) who were both unconscious inside of the running vehicle, which was still in drive.

Mr. Taylor and Mr. Pitts were woken and asked to step outside of the vehicle, and upon exit, officers immediately noticed a handgun within reach of the driver. According to officers, both appeared heavily intoxicated and were in and out of consciousness. 

Search and inventory of the vehicle revealed another handgun that was confirmed stolen was concealed near where Mr. Pitts was seated. Numerous narcotics were also located inside the vehicle.

Mr. Taylor and Mr. Pitts were subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.

Mr. Taylor was charged with the following:

*Carrying a Concealed Weapon, F.S.S. 790.01(2).

*Trafficking Heroin F.S.S. 893.13(1)(a)(1), [5.4 Grams].

*Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell F.S.S. 893.13(1)(a)(1), [0.8 Grams].

* DUI-Influence of Alcohol or Drugs F.S.S. 316.193(1)(a).

*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, F.S.S. 893.147(1).

*Marijuana Possession Under 20 Grams F.S.S. 893.13(6)(a), [11.2 Grams].

*Driving While License Suspended/Revoked with Knowledge F.S.S. 322.34(2)(a).

Mr. Pitts was charged with the following:

*Carrying a Concealed Weapon, F.S.S. 790.01(2).
