Man Arrested After Second Foot Chase in Two Months.

(February 28, 2023) On February 27, 2023, at approximately 7:15 a.m., an officer from the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a call for service to check on a male who was possibly passed out inside of a running vehicle with a syringe in his hand at 3800-Block of SE 15th Place, Cape Coral, Lee County, Florida.

The call notes also stated that there was a female passenger inside the vehicle as well. Before officers arrived at the scene, Lee County Emergency Medical Services and Cape Coral Fire Department personnel contacted a male, later identified as Handy Granda (W/M 08-08-1986, Transient), and his passenger Alexa Sophia Pierce (W/F 12-15-1995, 1017 SW 11th Ave) who stated they were only “sleeping” and quickly left the call location.

As responding officers arrived in the area, they located a grey KIA matching the description traveling northbound on SE 15th Place. The responding officer observed a traffic infraction and attempted to pull over this vehicle. The vehicle pulled into 3011 Del Prado Blvd South (Emerald Wealth Management Solutions LLC). Mr. Handy exited the vehicle and ran northbound, crossing through the steady morning flow of traffic of Del Prado Blvd S. and continued running through 3010 Del Prado Blvd S (Valvoline Instant Oil Change).

The officer gave numerous commands as he chased Mr. Handy who refused to stop. Employees of Valvoline gave chase to assist the officer. Mr. Granda continued running northbound through the back alley, where he eventually tripped and fell. With the assistance of the Valvoline employees, the officer was able to detain Mr. Granda.

Ms. Pierce also ran from the vehicle but was located hiding behind a nearby business, where she was later detained.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Granda and Ms. Pierce had many narcotics on them and inside the vehicle.

This is the second time since January 4, 2023, Mr. Granda has fled from officers on foot.

Mr. Granda & Ms. Pierce were subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.
