Results of September 24, 2022 DUI Enforcement Operation

(September 26, 2022) - The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a grant-funded DUI enforcement operation on September 24, 2022, targeting impaired driving. Funding was provided by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in twenty-seven citations (fourteen for violating a traffic control or signal device). No drivers stopped were found without a seatbelt, and we thank the motoring public for always wearing their seatbelts.

Ramirez

ARRESTED: Ramiro Martinez Gomez (W/M 03-08-1985, 5980 Cardinal, Bokeelia)
CHARGES: DUI

Gomez was called in by a concerned citizen as a reckless driver.  Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.  Officers observed signs of impairment.  Gomez performed poorly on SFST’s and was placed under arrest.  Gomez did provide a breath sample.  BAC .123%.
Tomasini

ARRESTED: Donald Tomasini (W/M 11-29-1962, 1801 SE 43rd Street)
CHARGES: DUI

Tomasini was stopped after numerous traffic violations.  Officer Myers observed signs of impairment.  Tomasini performed poorly on SFST’s and was placed under arrest.  Tomasini provided a breath sample of .000%.  DRE Thomas responded and found Tomasini to be impaired. 

Brown
ARRESTED: Sammy L. Brown  (B/M 05-20-1979, 3726 Minnesota Drive, Fort Myers)
CHARGES: DUI & Violation of Probation

Brown was stopped for running a red light.  Officers observed signs of impairment.  Brown performed poorly on SFST’s and was placed under arrest.  Brown refused to provide a breath sample.  During an inventory of Brown's vehicle two Budweiser cans were located.  Brown is currently on probation with the special condition of no alcohol or drugs.  Brown was charged accordingly.
