Join a Line / Schedule a Permit Services Appt

To visit City Hall in person, you have three options to join a specialty line or schedule a permitting appointment. 
Steps to Take:
1.   Choose the line option that fits your situation best.
2.   Utilize the methods above to join a line remotely to book a permitting services appointment. Note:  Appointments must be scheduled in advance. 

City Hall Specialty Line Options: 

Building Permit Services  - Open M-TH, 7:30 am-4:00 pm*
**Note: Building Permit Services appointments are in 30-minute slots and can be booked through the Q-less virtual line system or via text. No walk-ins accepted.

  • Owner/Builders 1 – Select this if you are a property owner and need help with a building permit 
  • Owner/Builders 2 – Select this if Owner/Builder 1 is full or if you are a property owner needing assistance with building permits
  • Contractor – Select this if you're a contractor seeking help with current building permits.
  • Permit Pick-up Only - Select this if you are picking up an approved permit

Additional Line Options
"Join the line" (check-in) for services from 7:20 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Mon-Fri. No appointments available. (Click the links for details.)

  • Contractor Registration - Select this line for contractor registration in Cape Coral.
  • Housing/Mortgage Assistance - Select this line for housing assistance program information, including deductible assistance and foreclosure prevention.
  • Zoning/Planning – Choose this for help with land use inquiries, certificates of use, seating, or tent or sign permits.
Ways To "Join a Line" (Check-in) or Schedule a Permitting Services Appointment:

  1. Open Qless site here

  2. Enter your First and Last name and 11-digit phone number, then click "Next."

  3. Select your desired line or schedule an appointment for permitting services.

QLess App
After downloading the Qless App from the Android or Apple store you'll be prompted to:

  1. Search for: City of Cape Coral.
  2. Enter your first and last name and 11-digit cell phone number, then enter One (Required) to select your line.
  3. Choose the line you wish to join or a permitting services option to schedule an appointment.
  4. Answer additional questions specific to your check-in.
  5. Click "Confirm."

  1. Text the line number of the line you want to join. Note: Some line options are not available for text check-ins.
  2. You will receive a message with your estimated wait time, and you will receive another message when it's your turn.
  3. You'll have the following "In-line" options:
    • Text "S" to get a status update
    • Text "L" to leave the line
    • Text "M" to get more time
    • Text "H" for help.
