Name Your Parks Contest!

FREE Swag! (3)

The City of Cape Coral is hosting a "Name Your Park" contest!  As new parks are built, they often end up with a temporary working name. But, neighborhood parks across Cape Coral still need proper names, and we want your input.

To submit a suggestion for possible names, Cape Coral residents can send their ideas via an online form, linked below.

Each submission must include the suggested name for the new park, a brief explanation of why the proposed name is the best for this park, and the applicant’s name, phone number, and email address.

The list of suggested names will be evaluated by an ad hoc subcommittee, and the resident that submits the winning name will receive a Parks and Recreation Gift Card.

Requirements:

Park names must refer to at least one of the following:

  • History, culture, and people of Florida (especially SWFL and Cape Coral)
  • The natural environment and native plants and animals of Florida and especially SWFL and/or Cape Coral
  • Notable events or achievements that are associated with Florida and especially SWFL and/or Cape Coral
  • The neighborhood, community, or physical location of the park
  • Founders, leaders, heroes, symbols, and fundamental principles of our nation

Park name suggestions must be:

  • Brief, pronounceable, and memorable
  • Distinct and dissimilar from the name of any other nearby park
