Arbor Day Foundation, State Farm Help Distribute Free Trees to Aid Hurricane Recovery

May 19, 2023

With the support of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Community Tree Recovery program and State Farm, the City of Cape Coral will be distributing 200 trees on Saturday, June 3, from 12 – 3 p.m. at Rotary Park, 5505 Rose Garden Road.

The Arbor Day Foundation granted the City of Cape Coral the 2023 State Farm Insurance Tree Distribution Award. This will fund the distribution of 200 trees to help residents recover those lost to Hurricane Ian.

Only Cape Coral residents are eligible to receive a tree. One tree is allowed per household, and ID must be shown to prove residency. Trees are available while supplies last.

The trees are free of charge and will help to replace trees damaged and destroyed by Hurricane Ian. The Arbor Day Foundation’s Community Tree Recovery Program aims to replace trees in communities affected by natural disasters throughout the United States.

“We plant trees for many different reasons; they clean the air, purify the water, provide a home for wildlife, etc.,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “We can also plant trees to restore hope to a community that is healing. We believe in the hope planting a tree provides for the future.”
