Cape Coral Receives Distinguished Budget Award

The City of Cape Coral’s Finance Department earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the 25th time from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget.

The award represents a significant achievement by the City of Cape Coral’s Finance Department, reflecting the commitment of the City Council, City Manager, management, and budget staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

The Finance Department achieved this award by satisfying nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. 

These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:

  • a policy document
  • a financial plan
  • an operations guide
  • a communications device
The City of Cape Coral’s FY 2023 Budget Presentation has pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting. The City’s work provides an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
