 Cape Coral Prepares for Municipal Elections

Preparations for the 2022 City of Cape Coral Municipal Election(s) are underway for the offices of Mayor and Council Member Districts 1, 4, and 6. 

Those interested in running for one of these offices should note that Qualification Week begins Monday, June 13, 2022, at noon and ends promptly on Friday, June 17, 2022, at noon. Please contact City Clerk Bruns at 239-574-0417 with questions or schedule an appointment.

City of Cape Coral Municipal elections are held each even-numbered year and are nonpartisan. The terms for the offices of Mayor and Council Members are four years. Terms begin on the first regular meeting of the Council held after the date of the General Election, November 16, 2022.

Primary Election – Tuesday, August 23, 2022: 

Should there be more than two qualifying candidates for Mayor or a given Council district, their names will be placed on the primary ballot. The two primary candidates receiving the highest votes shall be the candidates in the City General Election.

General Election – Tuesday, November 8, 2022:

If there are fewer than three qualifying candidates for Mayor or a given Council district, their names will not appear on the primary election ballot. They will appear on the City General Election ballot.
