Cape Coral Hires First Arborist, Hosts Annual Arbor Day Event

Join the City of Cape Coral as we celebrate National Arbor Day and welcome our first City Arborist, Omar Leon. 

The Annual Arbor Day event will be held at 10 a.m. on April 29, 2022, at Jim Jeffers Park, 2817 SW 3rd Lane, and is open to the public.

Cape Coral Parks & Recreation is donating Live Oak trees to be planted at Jim Jeffers Park in celebration of Arbor Day.

The event will conclude with a proclamation recognizing Cape Coral as a Tree City USA. This year marks the 30th consecutive year the City has received this Arbor Day Foundation designation. 

Tree City USA recognizes communities that have proven their commitment to an effective, ongoing community forestry program.

Mr. Leon joins Cape Coral as the first City Arborist, where he will continue to strengthen the City’s commitment to creating a more sustainably managed Urban Forest.

He will also help create beautiful, vibrant landscapes to improve the quality of life and serve as a vital part of the City’s green infrastructure system.
