Public Input Needed on Proposed LOSOM

The City of Cape Coral and Lee County Commissioners continue to advocate for water quality. Lee County leaders are fully engaged on behalf of Southwest Florida in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ process to make changes to the Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM).

The Army Corps is finalizing the LOSOM. Please email the Army Corps and let them know that changes are needed to Alternative Plan CC to significantly reduce the wet season discharges to the Caloosahatchee River.

In its current version and without changes, Alternative Plan CC will contribute more nutrients to the River than under the current operations schedule. The proposed LOSOM will dictate lake management decisions for the next decade.
