Residents Recycle More than 20 Tons of Household Hazardous Waste

City residents dropped off more than 45,000 lbs. of household hazardous waste at the annual recycle event in March.  Lee County Solid Waste was able to recycle 90% of the waste.  

Listed below are totals for some of the larger amounts of waste received and processed at the event.

Aerosol Cans = 1,078 lbs
Flammable Liquid = 1,155 lbs
Toxic Liquid = 1,759 lbs
Toxic Solid = 929 lbs
Fluorescent Bulbs = 455 lbs
Electronics = 3,100 lbs
Latex Paint = 20,622 lbs
Lead acid Batteries = 3,070 lbs
Propane Tanks = 716 lbs
Used Oil = 4,800 lbs
Antifreeze = 360 lbs
