July 2, 2024

The City of Cape Coral has earned City Certification through the Better Cities For Pets™ program from Mars Petcare, showcasing its commitment to creating a pet-friendly community.

Media is invited to attend a media event highlighting this achievement. Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter will provide a statement in acceptance of the designation, and special guests from the Cape Coral Animal Shelter will be in attendance including the shelter's executive director, Liz McCauley, and a few furry friends looking for a good home.

WHERE: City Hall (outside Council offices), 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 3 at 10 a.m. Media is encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early to set up.

This certification recognizes The City of Cape Coral’s efforts to welcome pets, offer pet-friendly programs and amenities, and help keep people and pets together in tough times. Today at least 60 percent of households in the U.S. and Canada include at least one pet. By leading in pet-friendliness, our city can make the benefits of pet ownership accessible to even more people, and be even more attractive to an ever-growing group of pet-loving residents and visitors. To receive the certification, Cape Coral met benchmarks across various traits that support pet-friendly shelters, homes, parks and businesses.
