Join Robust Health Care and Medical Industry in Cape Coral

drCape Coral is home to an impressive health care network anchored by Cape Coral Hospital, a 291-bed acute care facility featuring all private rooms. Cape Coral Hospital is undergoing a complete renovation, expansion and modernization of the Weigner-Taeni Center for Emergency Services, which will make the emergency department the largest in Lee County. Approximately 1,200 employees, a medical staff of more than 600 physicians and more than 1,000 volunteers serve patients and their families.

In addition, Cape Coral is the proud home of the new 220,000-square-foot Lee County VA Health Care Center, servicing 1,000 military veterans each day from the five-county region. The center is the anchor for the city’s newest medical investment zone, the Veterans Investment Zone (VIZ). According to one estimate, the regional veteran population numbers 202,000.

In addition to these major medical centers, the city is home to a large population of baby boomers and has earned high rankings as a retirement hot spot due to its relaxing climate that continues to attract a growing senior population.

The Cape Coral Economic Development Office (EDO) is attracting symbiotic businesses to become established near these major medical care providers. The surrounding areas are ideal for other medical offices, testing and diagnostic laboratories, professional support offices, data processing and wellness providers, in addition to a host of others.

One local success story is Acology Pharmacy and Prescription Compounding, which has been operating in Cape Coral since 2003. When the need for more space and greater visibility prompted Acology’s move to a larger storefront, the relocation followed a six-month planning process that included permitting and relocation assistance from the Cape Coral EDO.
