This year’s Great American Cleanup will take place on Saturday April 20, 2019. This will be the 21st anniversary for Keep Lee County Beautiful, Inc. hosting this event in Lee County. In Cape Coral, we will have four sites for volunteers to help at:

  • Sirenia Vista Park (Corner of Ceitus Pkwy & Old Burnt Store Rd.)
  • Yacht Club (5819 Driftwood Parkway)
  • Eco Park (East end of SE 23 Terrace)
  • Jaycee Park (4215 SE 20th Pl)

Because our residents enjoy a waterfront lifestyle, it is a great opportunity to make the Cape a cleaner place to live, work and play.  As our Canalwatch members know the canals of Cape Coral can unfortunately accumulate debris. Our canals serve as stormwater treatment and as the stormwater moves over land, it picks up and carries away litter and debris, eventually depositing them into our canals. Please consider joining in the cleanup. We’ve all seen cigarette butts, fishing line, even large items like bicycles. Now is a great opportunity to provide a great community service. Volunteers may choose to help with the cleanup on foot, kayaks, or by boat. Check in for the cleanup will be at 8 am and the event will last until 11am. Gloves, trash bags, and pickers will be provided for volunteers. Please plan on bringing your own water, sunscreen, and bug spray. If you are at a waterway cleanup site you must provide your own watercraft.

The Great American Cleanup is the nation’s largest organized annual volunteer cleanup event. It encourages citizens to get involved in their own communities. Millions of volunteers nationwide take part in the Great American Cleanup each spring. Visit klcb.org or call them at 239-334-3488 for additional check-in locations.

The Lee County Great American Cleanup is sponsored by Keep Lee County Beautiful (KLCB), Inc., and is part of the national Great American Cleanup program sponsored by Keep America Beautiful (KAB). To register for the event please visit https://klcb.org
