Non-Residential Design Standards

Because the appearance of non-residential and compound-use development affects the visual image and attractiveness of the City of Cape Coral., the City Council adopted Ordinance 84-07, which is now incorporated as Section 5.6 of the Land Use and Development Regulations, on May 12, 2008.

To help the reader visualize the intent of the Non-Residential Design Standards, the City has prepared a User's Guide.  Click on the link at the bottom of this page to download the User's Guide.  The photographs and drawings are for illustrative purposes only. They are not intended to dictate design solutions, but simply to help the designer understand basic concepts and, where appropriate, suggest possible solutions. To accomplish this, certain illustrations may be purposely exaggerated or may include elements that are not consistent with other criteria. Even though this document is intended to assist the reader of Section 5.6., the reader is cautioned to understand that infinitely many scenarios exist for compliance with the regulations.

This guide is only to be used as an aid to understand the adopted regulations, and must not be used for a legal interpretation of the regulations. Section 5.6, Non-Residential Design Standards, of the City of Cape Coral Land Use and Development Regulations, shall have precedence of this User’s Guide.  If there is any uncertainty as to the requirements of Section 5.6., please contact the Community Development Department.
