Results of Distracted Driving Enforcement

(March 6, 2023)- The Cape Coral Police Department conducted a traffic saturation on March 4, 2023, specifically targeting distracted driving. This operation was conducted citywide and resulted in twenty citations, no driver was cited for texting while driving.

The operation was paid for with FDOT sub-grant funding. Cape Coral currently ranks 5th out of 37 agencies in Distracted Driving for traffic fatalities and serious injuries on the Highway Safety Matrix – Ranking of Florida. To improve traffic safety in the City, the Department has partnered with FDOT’s Traffic Safety Office to bring additional enforcement and education through the implementation of saturation patrols.
