Female Arrested for Leaving the Scene of an Accident

(December 7, 2022)- On December 6, 2022, at approximately 08:46 a.m., Cape Coral Police Department officers responded to a call for service near the 1100-Block of Cultural Park Blvd South in reference to a hit-and-run accident.

The call notes stated that near this location, multiple callers reported that a female driving a grey or silver Kia was traveling eastbound and struck a bicyclist. The vehicle's driver left the accident scene without stopping, rendering aid, or calling 9-1-1.

Officers arrived at the scene and located a victim who was being treated for injuries by Lee County Emergency Medical Services (LCEMS). The victim sustained several injuries from the collision and was transported to Gulf Coast Hospital as a trauma alert.

The victim, wearing a helmet, also had a video camera affixed to the helmet worn during the accident. The video footage showed the incident leading up to the crash and an identifiable vehicle description.

The responding officer who worked the initial accident coordinated our Forensics, Crime Analyst, and Records Unit to help identify the suspect vehicle through collaborative investigative efforts.

It was later determined that Ms. Edoff-Ingersoll was at the Cape Coral Police Department before the crash to report a separate accident that occurred several days prior.

A follow-up investigation revealed that at the residence of Ms. Edoff-Ingersoll was a silver in color Kia with significant windshield, front right bumper, and right front fender damages consistent with the manner of the new collision. Contact was made with Ms. Edoff-Ingersoll who admitted to striking the bicyclist and leaving the accident scene.

Ms. Edoff-Ingersoll was subsequently transported to Lee County Jail.
