Financial Crimes Unit Makes Arrest After Lengthy Investigation

(September 20, 2022)- On September 20, 2022, Cape Coral Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit completed a comprehensive and detailed arrest report for the arrest of Dysean Isiah Bryant (B/M 11-21-2000, 216 SE 2nd Place). He is currently incarcerated at the Lee County Jail on separate charges.

This arrest report included a chain of events that identified Mr. Bryant as responsible for fourteen counts of unlawful possession of personal identifying information, coupled with evidence of Grant Theft of approximately $106,691.25.

On March 3, 2022, at approximately 0630 hours, the U.S. Marshal Task Force (USMFTF) responded to 216 SE 2nd Place, the home address of Mr. Bryant, to execute an arrest warrant. The warrant issued to Mr. Bryant was for violating the Pre-Trial Agreement with the original charge of possessing a weapon by a delinquent. During USMFTF involvement, evidence of narcotic activity was observed and reported to the Cape Coral Police Department's Vice Intelligence Narcotics Unit (VIN).

During this arrest warrant and based on what was observed inside the residence, a search warrant was completed for this location. Evidence of check manufacturing, check fraud, and the unlawful possession of multiple items of personal identification was discovered. There were documents and other evidence within Mr. Bryant's residence that suggested that he was conducting a course of behavior consistent with the fraudulent production of counterfeit checks with the use of check-making materials and unsuspecting victims' and businesses' personal identifying information.

Based on the evidence obtained, detectives began investigating the names and businesses that could be identified with the information observed on the evidence seized. Investigative techniques were utilized to identify each victim of this fraudulent and illegal operation over the course of several months.

Mr. Bryant was charged with the following:

* Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information of Another Person F.S.S. 817.5685(3)(b)(2), (14 Counts).

*Grand Theft F.S.S. 812.014(2)(a)(1).
